Black Friday Deal Price Checker
A big 'was' price does not always mean a big saving. Enter the sale price, the shop's 'was' price and, if you can find it, the lowest price in the last 90 days from a price tracker or the shop's history. The checker shows the real saving against what the item normally costs and gives a simple verdict.
How it works
- You pay = sale price + shipping and extras
- Advertised discount = (was price − sale price) ÷ was price
- Real saving = normal price − what you pay (uses the 'was' price if you leave normal empty)
- Verdict: great if you pay at or below the 90-day low and save 20%+ vs normal; good if you save 10%+; otherwise wait or compare
Decide what you need and your top price before the sales start. A deal on something you would not buy anyway is not a saving.
Three things this tool can't see
- Model numbers. Sale models can have slightly different specs. Compare the exact model number.
- Returns and warranty. Check the return window and who handles the warranty, especially for marketplace sellers.
- Price history you cannot see. Use a price tracker or check a few shops before you trust a 'was' price.
